After I learned to read I pretty much inhaled a book a day throughout my youth. Then, in my mid-20s I became unable to focus, my mind going off at tangents on every sentance. So I started watching films instead. A couple of hours spent on a well-made movie was more convenient than a couple of days spent on the best-written book, plus some of them inspired me to read the actual book later. It took almost a decade before I was able to read again and movies are still easier. Plus, by now a lot of TV is of such a high standard I'd describe it as Cinema Quality, but with much more comprehensive storylines.
Recently I started re-reading Earth's Children by Jean M. Auel (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_M._Auel), a six-volume story. You may have heard of The Clan of the Cave Bear, the first in the saga. At the time it was hugely inspiring. I so wanted to learn to knapp flints! But I settled for learning my herbs and doing a spot of gardening to make use of that knowledge. This time I want to learn to make fire, but I think a bow drill would work better for me than my palms as described in the book. π₯
